Max Snyder

Max Snyder obituary in Redding, CA Aquaterra Water Cremation

Max Snyder left us too soon on May 17, 2025, after a long illness.

He was born in Wauseon, Ohio, on October 6, 1955, to Herman Dean and Darolyn Ann. After the family moved west in the 1960s, Max spent most of his life in Redding and Igo, California—places he called home and communities he cared for deeply.

Max spent 30 years at Pacific Gas & Electric, working his way from mechanic to Safety Specialist. He was also a familiar and dedicated presence at the Kool April Nites car show, where he served for many years as Parking Director. He loved classic cars and proudly restored a 1949 Buick Roadmaster Riviera—rescued from a dusty barn and transformed into a stunning showstopper.

He leaves behind his love of over 40 years, Mary, whose tireless care allowed him to pass peacefully at home. He is also survived by his brother Mike, sister Peggy, son Benjamin, twin daughters Amanda and Jessica, their spouses, his beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Max was as generous as he was kind. He always had a joke to lighten the mood and a laugh that was truly contagious. He could fix just about anything—whether it was a car, a problem, or someone’s bad day. You couldn’t help but have a good time when Max was around.

A celebration of life and memorial golf tournament will be held this fall in his honor.
