Post Life OptionsBring Water Cremation to Your Families
Water cremation is a growing choice among families in Northern California who are seeking a gentler, more natural farewell. As a funeral home or cremation provider, offering this service strengthens your portfolio and meets a need families are already asking for, without any added burden to your business. We handle the entire process so you can focus on what matters most: serving your families.
Water CremationHow it Works
Understanding the process is the first step to offering it with confidence. Aquamation (also known as alkaline hydrolysis or water cremation) is a respectful and eco-conscious way to return a life's vessel back to nature. This gentle method mirrors the natural decomposition process that occurs when a body returns to the earth, but much more efficiently. By carefully combining water, mild alkalinity, heat, and sometimes pressure, aquamation accelerates natural breakdown, achieving in a few hours what might otherwise take months or even years.
Creating the Right Environment
The process takes place inside a sealed stainless-steel chamber, where the body is placed in a warm, pressurized bath of water mixed with a mild alkaline solution. This controlled environment encourages natural molecular breakdown.
Breaking Down the Body with Care
Over 3 to 6 hours, depending on body mass and bone density, the combined action of heat, alkalinity, and pressure dissolves everything but the bones. The process is carefully monitored by our team throughout the process.
What remains, and what’s returned
The bones are gently dried and processed into a smooth, white powder. The remaining sterile liquid, called effluent, is rich in natural nutrients and contains no DNA or tissue. It is returned safely to the earth at our facility.
A Meaningful, Positive Outcome
Families receive processed remains in an urn, just as they would with flame cremation. This means your team can offer water cremation without changing the memorial experience families and your staff already understand.
