Karen May Van Sickle
Karen May Van Sickle, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend - passed away unexpectedly on July 29th, 2025 at her home in Anderson, California at the age of 67.
Karen was raised in Anderson and attended Anderson Union High School, graduating in 1976, after which, she moved to Marysville, CA where she attended college. In college she worked as a dog groomer. Karen would commute in her VW bug "Putty" to visit family. Later she returned to Anderson and began working at the Anderson UA movie theater. On 1984 she joined her sister on an adventurous trip to Alaska, after which, she embarkedon another adventure with the US Navy in 1985. She served as a Photographer's mate, being stationed in Corpus Christi, TX, the Philippines and then Japan. While in Japan she hiked to the top of Mount Fuji. Karen was honorably discharged from the Navy and returned home to Anderson. During this time she attended Shasta College and received an AA degree in Horticulture. She loved animals and had cats, chickens and a goat.
Karen is survived by her parents Bill and Pauline, sister Pam and brothers Dean, Roy, Don, Joe and Ben. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews.
